Accelerating Church Owned Bible Translation

GCBT Conference, SPI Training & ATI Program

God’s Word translated in the languages of every nation is strategic and crucial to advancing the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  That is why Bible translation is integral to making disciples of every nation.  The majority of the remaining Bibleless people groups neither read nor write.  They did not have access to formal education either by reason of culture, location, or preference.  They constitute two-thirds of the world’s population hence making disciples of every nation is largely among this Oral Majority.  This website provides you with opportunities to participate in conferences, training events, networking opportunities, course offerings, and resources in making disciples of every nation, tribe, people, and language.

The Rev. Dr. Romerlito C. Macalinao is the former and first Executive Director of Wycliffe Bible Translators Philippines, Inc. from 2009-2018. He served Wycliffe Associates in the summer of 2018 as Pacific Regional Director and ended in September 2023 as Strategic Initiatives Director.

GCBT

GCBT (Great Commission Bible Translation) is a vision sharing event for leaders of churches, denominations, mission organizations, and allied ministries.  The work of Bible Translation, the Great Commission, and the leadership of Global Church are the foci of the gathering.  Since it began in 2017 in Manila, the GCBT conferences has been held in several countries and regions of the world and online.  The GCBT Conferences has helped develop partnerships and collaboration to advance the work of the Great Commission through Bible Translation under the local leadership of partnering churches.

SPI

The Scripture Passages Initiative (Formerly Global Ethne Outreach/GEO) is a training program designed for churches, seminaries, mission schools, and like-minded entities that intend to engage in Bible translation, most especially among the Oral Majority. Together in partnership, the SPI training helps raise capacity and competency to forge commitment and collaboration of the local churches and national ministry leaders to advance Bible translation in obedience to the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

ATI

The Academic Training Initiative (ATI) program is a franchise model, which is transferrable to host countries through higher education institutions. This program follows the principles of Church-Owned Bible Translation. The target audience is trained with modules that increase their knowledge and context of oral communities. It also teaches technology for translation, how to produce quality Scriptures, and it provides a practicum for apprenticeship.
